The original Bullet Space Pen was conceived in July of 1948. Paul Fisher was soon machining a new pen design shaped from solid aluminum. It became the first Fisher ball point pen, the #400 Bullet Pen, is arguably the most popular pen of the twentieth century. Great pocket pen
The Fisher Space Pen is a great pocket pen. As someone who always carries a pen in his front pants/jeans pocket, it's important to me to have a pen that is small, doesn't leak, doesn't poke, and doesn't open up and write in my pocket. The Fisher Space Pen meets all these requirements. The pressurized ink cartridge, in addition to writing at any angle, also lasts a long time, so I don't have to change the refill often. (In fact, I lost my last Space Pen before I had to refill it.)
The shape of the pen might not be ideal for extended use--I wouldn't recommend it for taking an essay test--but it's fine for pulling out in a meeting to take notes.

Below expectations
Frankly, the hype suggested a more satisfying product than I received. The pen is quite small and not very comfortable to use, even when the top is inserted into the bottom. Most importantly, the writing quality is not nearly as good as some of my conventional ball-points. It may work underwater, upside down, etc., but for normal positions and environments, I prefer almost any other pen.
